Artist Statement

Throughout my college experience working towards my BFA, I found a love for landscapes and my inspiration grew with each new painting I completed. I enjoy using bright and saturated color in my work and wanted to continue to use these colors in landscapes, where this exaggerated color doesn’t happen naturally. My inspiration and style of painting was greatly influenced by traditional painted backgrounds found in early Disney films. I was drawn to the idea of these paintings being created with the intention to help tell a story for characters not yet on screen. This process lead to the idea of my personal ongoing project of an “unspoken narrative.” I wanted to create a series of scenes that convey a moment captured in time of a world that may not be of our own. I have been a huge lover of fantasy all my life and love where my creative mind has taken me. I invite all viewers of my landscapes to imagine their own stories that can take place in these hidden worlds.
Along with my landscape series, I enjoy dabbling in figure painting and creating works of art that represent the beauty of the human form and all its differences.
